Spread the News

We are approaching our busiest season in the summer, with a variety of conferences and events. We are glad to be able to provide an extensive report and newsletter here which is available in multiple hard copies if you would like to request them for yourself or to share with your friends. This explains more of our current activities and plans.

Busy Community
Our core activity is to provide a Christian scholarly community based round an outstanding library. We currently have 30 PhD students with assigned desks in the library, and various scholars on sabbatical, as well as numerous local and occasional users. Our weekly community meals, chapel services and twice-daily breaks for coffee and tea provide an opportunity for scholars and their families to make friendships which last for life.

In addition to this core activity we have many other things going on: some reported below, and others in the newsletter.

Volunteers Needed for Bible Encyclopaedia Module
STEP (Scripture Tools for Every Person) our project to provide Scripture study tools freely to the world's poorest people will include a new Bible Encyclopaedia for all the places, people and difficult words in the Bible. We have already compiled all the data from older Bible dictionaries, and now need to rewrite these succinctly for a modern generation, so that relevant information is offered to the reader while reading a passage. If you have editing skills and good Bible knowledge, we'd love to have you in our team! More details here.

Tyndale Fellowship Triennial Conference

The Tyndale Fellowship is a group of 390 scholars and is a society which preceded Tyndale House and planned its inception. It has seven study groups in specific areas of theology and biblical studies and these meet yearly and come together every three years for a major conference, which will take place in just over a month.

There is still time to book in to the Tyndale Fellowship 2012 Triennial Conference. This is a great opportunity for established scholars and young researchers to rub shoulders. You do not have to be a member of the Tyndale Fellowship to attend.

Place: King's Park Conference Centre, Northampton.
Dates: Monday 2 to Thursday 5 July.

You can download a programme here, and read about the venue and obtain a booking form here.

In addition, the Tyndale Fellowship Philosophy of Religion study group is hosting a conference entitled "Design in Nature? Scientific and Philosophical Perspectives" on Saturday 14 July 2012 at Hughes Hall, Cambridge. Full details can be found here.

Open Day

Keep Saturday 6 October 2012 clear in your diary for the Tyndale House Open Day. We will have some exciting developments to share and would love to see you.

Supporting scholarship is like planting trees. The results come over a long period of time. We're committed to that long-term vision and are very grateful for your friendship, support, advocacy and prayers.

Best wishes,

Peter J. Williams

Warden, Tyndale House
