Meet Dr Craig C. Hill

From cycling along the River Cam, to Browns Restaurant's steak, mushroom and Guinness pie: Dr Craig C. Hill, Research Professor at Duke University Divinity School in North Carolina, talks about returning to Tyndale House for the month of October and kick-starting his latest project.

"Unlike being at home or my office at Duke, I have few distractions. It is very much like being on a retreat; it's easier to focus. The library itself is highly accessible. You immerse yourself in it and get away from everything else."

NIV Proclamation Bible

"Preaching is food for the soul, so we have produced a cookbook for the soul" said Dr Lee Gatiss at The NIV Proclamation Bible's (Hodder & Stoughton, 2013) launch at Tyndale House on 26 September 2013.

Lee, who commissioned and edited the works of people from 4 continents, noted that "Tyndale House is a centre for people all over the world who are building contacts over coffee", and indeed many of the 65 contributors were first approached here. The project began late in 2010 and set out to offer a resource for biblical teachers and students.

In a preview video released by Hodder Faith, Lee said, "I’ve really enjoyed assembling a terrific cast of contributors to make this Bible teachers' dream into a reality with the NIV Proclamation Bible."

Following William Tyndale, but in greater comfort, scholars here are regularly involved in producing new editions of or translations of the Bible.

Investing for the Future
Tyndale House is currently hosting over 50 scholars, overwhelmingly working at the doctoral level or above. It is hard to assess the number of lives which will be touched by all the writing and teaching that these people do or will do. Our aim to raise up scholars to serve the church is a long-term project.

Our aim is not to respond to every latest news story about the Bible, nor to the conspiracy theories which abound in popular consciousness, though we do respond to some. Rather our aim is to equip the church with people, that is with scholars who really can assist others in understanding the Christian Scriptures and their language, history, context, and meaning.

If you are interested in the long-term health of Christian education and are able to support us financially we hope that you will consider doing so. Our supporters currently number hundreds, not thousands, and those who support us with a monthly gift number under fifty, not the hundreds we would like.

Any regular gift, however, small helps us to build, maintain and enhance the library and community. If you would like to make a one off or regular gift you can do so by clicking here or, for those in the USA, here.

We also greatly appreciate your prayers for the work of Tyndale House.

Thank you for your interest in this work.

God bless,

Peter Williams
